A Perfect Plett Day

For many South Africans and visitors to South Africa, the eternal debate is whether to plan a beach holiday or a bush holiday… Our beautiful country has so much to offer: beautiful beaches, dramatic coastlines and the wide open plains of our national parks and game reserves. If you’re having this dilemma, there’s good news – you don’t have to choose! We’ll let you in on a little secret: in Plettenberg Bay, you can see the world’s largest marine mammal and the world’s largest terrestrial mammal – in the same day!

Imagine this perfect Plett day:

MORNING:Ocean Blue whale plett

Wake up at The Baroness Lodge at Plett Game Reserve, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the verandah, while a herd of springbok meander past.  Then, it’s time to hit the beach with a morning ocean-safari boat trip to see the dolphins, seals and whales (June-November is the best time to see migrating Humpbacks and Southern Rights), while dolphins and seals live in the bay – year round. After the trip, you can spend some time exploring one of Plett’s gorgeous international Blue Flag beaches (there are six of them!) or head to the Lookout Deck or The Fat Fish for a seafood lunch with a view over the bay.

AFTERNOON:

Elephants Plett

After lunch, it’s time for more wildlife! Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is only 20km from town – just a short drive back into the countryside for a game drive through our 2000ha game reserve; home to giraffe, elephant, antelope, buffalo, zebra, hippo, rhino and more – the Big Five, in fact. Sit back, relax and enjoy the trip! After your busy day, you may want to return to the verandah for a glass of wine to enjoy the sunset and, finally, let us prepare a hearty meal for your dinner under the shimmering stars.
